Open Oproep, an organization in Belgium, launches a competition for the requalification of the Kortenberg Psychiatric Hospital, integrated in the University Campus of KU Leuven.More than a hospital psychiatric treatment complex, this project aims to create a space that promotes well-being and health and offers a greater diversity of programs, considering the type of treatment, but also the phased process that will last 20 years.Since we had to think about  the future, we had to consider  that  the integral and more humane view, that the project contains in it an opportunity to be a more accessible and inclusive space in society, in the way  we still see psychiatric illness, and the prejudices that it still encompasses.A big overview of the project considers the Belgian context, and is governed mainly by the principles of sustainability, and circularity, that is, building the desired or expanding if desired, but reducing the impact of land use, and developing flexible solutions applied to the construction of buildings and the multiplicity of programs that can occur from them.
