In the place of this commercial cars place, garage also for cars, and  a shop, this building already function like a parking and garage for  the cars, on the 30’s. The programm was really specific, turn the industrial buildings, in the whole Lisbon city, into dwelling spaces. Areeiro, it was the place for the project, and this building , Garagem Atómica, was it the only one that we found with such industrial characteristics. More than home, it is a residence for students, the building gathered conditions to get more program than that,  and provide more public spaces, like keep the commercial floor, a gallery of exhibitions, a library, and a coffee or terrace on the top of the roof. The access was made by a promenade, taking advantge of the existing ramps, and adapting the building with the original structure.
